Mugonyi's tenure as Director General will see him succeeding Ezra Chiloba, who resigned from the position in October 2023 after a two-year term.

ICT Cabinet Secretary Eluid Owalo on Wednesday announced the appointment of David Mugonyi as the new Director General of the Communication Authority of Kenya (CA).

Mugonyi, who previously served as the Head of Presidential Communication, will be stepping into this pivotal role following the approval of CA’s Board of Directors.

Owalo’s endorsement of this decision was conveyed in a letter addressed to the Head of Public Service Felix Koskei.

The letter, dated 19th December 2023, referenced previous correspondence and officially sanctioned Mugonyi’s appointment. “You may now proceed and take appropriate action to formalize the appointment,” Owalo stated in the letter.

Mugonyi’s tenure as Director General will see him succeeding Ezra Chiloba, who resigned from the position in October 2023 after a two-year term.

With a Master’s Degree in International Journalism from City University in the United Kingdom, Mugonyi brings a wealth of expertise to his new role, poised to steer the Communication Authority of Kenya into the future.
