Elon Musk’s AI startup xAI has unveiled its latest creation, the AI chatbot “Grok,” which Musk claims surpasses OpenAI’s ChatGPT-3.5 in various academic tests.
On November 5, Musk and the xAI team explained that Grok was developed with the intention of creating AI tools that can assist humanity in research and innovation.
They highlighted that Grok has a distinct advantage due to its real-time knowledge of the world through the X platform.
Grok is designed to tackle difficult questions that most other AI systems struggle with, and it adds a touch of humor and rebellion to its responses.
However, xAI shared data indicating that Grok-1, the engine powering the chatbot, outperformed ChatGPT-3.5 in all academic tests conducted in mathematics and coding.
Despite its impressive performance, Grok did not surpass OpenAI’s most advanced version, GPT-4, in any test. Musk and xAI acknowledged that models trained with larger amounts of data and computational resources like GPT-4 still hold an edge.
How To Access xAI Grok
Currently, access to Grok is limited to a select number of users in the United States, with a subscription fee of $16 per month available through X Premium Plus.
However, xAI plans to rapidly improve Grok, as it is still in the early beta stage. They also intend to implement additional safety measures to prevent malicious use of the chatbot.
With Grok, xAI aims to push the boundaries of AI capabilities, providing users with a powerful tool that combines knowledge, wit, and efficiency.
