Little App has unveiled a new Near Field Communication (NFC) payment feature in collaboration with Absa Bank and Visa.

This innovative addition aims to streamline and expedite the payment process for Little App taxis, allowing drivers to accept card-based payments through their Android smartphones. The implementation of this feature is expected to enhance efficiency for both customers and drivers.

The NFC payment feature leverages Absa’s Mobi Tap app solution, providing a convenient, fast, and secure option for users.

By transforming a smartphone into a point of sale (POS), customers can simply tap their contactless debit or credit cards on the driver’s Android phone or tablet to complete a payment.

This newly introduced NFC payment feature significantly simplifies the transaction process for cardholders, ensuring a swift and hassle-free experience.

To utilize this feature, customers can follow these straightforward steps:

  1. After the driver has entered the transaction amount, customers are required to place their contactless card directly under the driver’s phone, holding it briefly for a successful connection.
  2. Once the payment is completed, customers should wait for the confirmation, which will be displayed on the Little App.
  3. Finally, customers are advised to confirm the successful payment with the driver.

Elizabeth Wasunna-Ochwa, the Business Banking Director of Absa Bank Kenya PLC, expressed the bank’s commitment to partnerships that simplify and expedite business operations for customers, particularly those in the Small and Medium-sized (SMEs) category.

With the Absa Mobi Tap App, drivers on Little App can seamlessly accept payments on their smartphones from any debit, credit, or prepaid card, thereby facilitating faster transactions and keeping up with the latest payment trends.

Eva Ngigi-Sarwari, Visa Kenya’s Country Manager, emphasized the importance of this unique partnership with Absa and Little in Visa’s ongoing commitment to enabling SMEs to accept digital payments.

Through this collaboration, any Little App driver can now accept card payments on their NFC-enabled smartphones, eliminating the need for a separate POS machine.

Visa is dedicated to expanding access to digital payment options and looks forward to enabling all drivers in the Little App ecosystem.

Little App, renowned for its extensive reach across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Somalia, Senegal, Ghana, and India, serves as a leading ride-hailing service, offering mobility, delivery, and payment solutions.
