On Friday, the President will unveil several initiatives as part of his efforts to digitize government services. These include the e-Citizen Services, GavaMkononi App, and Gava Express.

The e-Citizen platform, which is undergoing a revamp, currently offers a range of popular services.

These include the Provisional Driving License from NTSA, Business Registration Services, Police Clearance and Certificate of Good Conduct, Marriage registration services, Initial registration for Foreign Nationals, Immigration services, services related to the Kenya Ports Authority, Kenya Revenue Authority, HELB, and the Hustler Fund for MSMEs.

With the launch of these new initiatives, the number of services available on the platform is expected to increase significantly.

Additionally, the President will introduce the Gava Mkononi application. This smartphone-based app aims to provide easy access to government services for smartphone users.

“To ensure that the majority of users, who access these services through smartphones, can easily access them, a phone-based app called GavaMkononi has been developed and will be unveiled tomorrow (Friday),” according to a statement.

Furthermore, Ruto will unveil Gava Express, a service modelled after Huduma Centres. Unlike Huduma Centers, which are primarily located in county headquarters, Gava Express aims to bring services to the grassroots level.

In partnership with the private sector, Gava Express aims to establish over 300,000 outlets.

During last year’s Jamhuri Day, Ruto directed the digitization of at least 5,000 services to be made available on the e-Citizen platform. The objectives of this directive include enhancing service delivery by improving convenience and accessibility.

Furthermore, the directive aims to boost employment by incubating innovative projects funded through increased revenue collection.
