Salt Capital Announces First Investment in Response24, a B2B SaaS Platform Specializing in Emergency and Security Services Across Africa
Salt Capital, a private equity investment firm focused on growth capital investments in the SADC region, is set to announce the signing of Salt Equity I’s first investment into Response24.
Response24 is a B2B SaaS platform technology company that specializes in monitoring and reducing response times for emergency, security, and service-driven sectors across Africa.
Founded by Marlize Holtzhausen, a female African technology entrepreneur, Response24 quickly gained recognition by securing a licensing agreement with one of the largest security companies in South Africa. Building on this success, the company expanded its technology into Africa through a partnership with a leading global security solutions company.
Marlize has been globally recognized for her achievements, receiving awards such as the ‘Global Award for Entrepreneurship and Innovation’ from Google Fest in 2014 and the ‘Tech Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the Africa Woman Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) in the 2020 awards.
Response24 has also been awarded first prize in the ICT category by the South African ‘Department for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs’ and the ‘International Labour Organization’, along with partners and sponsors including Microsoft.
The investment from Salt Capital will be used to accelerate the B2B roll-out of Response24’s platform across 41 countries in Africa, while also supporting industry-leading innovation. The highly scalable nature of the offering presents an opportunity for Response24 to expand beyond the African continent and launch additional modules.
Jannie Grobbelaar, Partner at Salt Capital, expressed excitement about working with Marlize and her team, praising their disruptive technology and emphasizing the need for sustainable growth and value creation. Salt Capital’s investment in Response24 aligns with their gender smart investment strategy, which aims to support female entrepreneurs in Africa.
Marlize expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership with Salt Capital, highlighting the shared values and the potential for accelerated growth with their support. She emphasized Response24’s commitment to investing in innovation to enhance the lives of their customers and evolve into a lifestyle and service-driven AI technology business.
Founded in 2012, Salt Capital focuses on growth capital investments in the SADC region. Their new fund, Salt Equity I, is dedicated to investing in SME businesses, with a particular focus on consumer-facing sectors.
Salt Capital is committed to supporting female entrepreneurs and providing guidance and alternative support where appropriate, even outside their investment mandate.
This investment in Response24 marks an important milestone for both companies and presents an opportunity for further growth and expansion in the African market.
