TECNO, a leading mobile phone company, has collaborated with local authorities in Kenya to deliver essential aid to communities affected by recent floods.

The company’s relief efforts were not only driven by its commitment to social responsibility but also by the personal experience of a TECNO employee in Syiokimau who suffered losses in the disaster and had to be evacuated by the Red Cross.

Wilfred Odera, IMC Manager for TECNO Mobile-Kenya, stated that the floods have caused severe hardship for many Kenyans, including our own team members.

“This has further strengthened our resolve to assist both our staff and the community during this challenging time.”

TECNO’s relief package included crucial supplies like food, bedding, and water containers, aiming to offer immediate support to those in need and aid in their recovery efforts.

Recipients of TECNO’s assistance expressed gratitude, with one stating, “TECNO’s help has been a lifeline. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to provide for my family. This support has renewed our hope for the future.”

The floods have displaced a significant number of people, as reported by the Kenya Red Cross, and TECNO is committed to providing ongoing support in light of this widespread devastation.

In addition to their immediate relief efforts, the company plans to introduce further corporate social responsibility projects. Starting in July, TECNO will initiate renovations at stadiums to support the development of Kenyan football, nurturing local talent and encouraging youth engagement in the sport.

This dedication to social impact aligns with TECNO’s previous endeavors. In February, the company collaborated with footballer Dennis Oliech to organize a football training camp for under-15s in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Nyeri.

These initiatives underscore TECNO’s commitment to driving positive societal change for the long term, nurturing upcoming generations of football talent in Kenya.

“We are firm believers in giving back and are committed to making a lasting positive difference in the communities we operate in,” Mr. Odera.

TECNO’s actions exemplify this dedication, whether in times of crisis or through continuous developmental programs.
