Digital lending company, Tala has announced the appointment of Annstella Mumbi as the new General Manager for the Kenya Unit.
With an extensive background in fintech, EdTech, and venture funding throughout various African markets, Annstella Mumbi is exceptionally qualified to lead Tala Kenya.
Having previously served as the interim GM since May, this appointment solidifies her position.
Prior to her current role, she held the position of Tala’s Global Director of Growth and also served as the Senior Growth Strategy Manager for Tala Kenya. This appointment marks the culmination of her three-year journey with Tala.
In her new capacity, Mumbi will assume leadership of a team of 130 professionals, overseeing Tala’s transformation into a comprehensive financial services provider in the upcoming year.
Prior to joining Tala, Annstella Mumbi was already actively involved in the Kenyan startup ecosystem. She served as a Venture Scout at Microtraction for two years. Even after joining Tala, she continued her involvement in the venture capital world, taking on the role of Venture Partner and Investor at RaliCap earlier this year. In this capacity, she supports early-stage startups in East Africa by providing pre-seed and seed funding.
Furthermore, Mumbi’s experience as a Growth Strategy Consultant at Moringa School demonstrates her extensive experience in nurturing tech ventures. It is worth noting that her career began at Unilever as an SAP Consultant, and she also interned at the same company.
Beyond her professional roles, Mumbi has shown a deep commitment to making a positive impact in the African tech ecosystem through her involvement with ImpactAfrica Network. At this organization, she played a crucial role in connecting innovators and changemakers to foster positive change across the continent.
Annstella Mumbi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering from JKUAT.
